Next Sunday, 18 September, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of St Matthew’s Georgetown. The current church was dedicated in 1966, and to celebrate the anniversary we’ll be having a special morning tea in the parish hall after the service. As part of the celebrations, we’ll be looking at photos and documents from our parish history over the last 50 years.
During the service itself, we’ll be celebrating our church’s ‘Patronal Festival’, which means we’ll be focusing on St Matthew, who wrote the gospel of Matthew.
To help make it a successful celebration, we’re asking everyone to please bring some food to share for the morning tea. Also, if you have any photos or documents that show part of our history, please bring them next Sunday. And if you know people who have moved away, but would be intererested in joining our anniversary celebration, please invite them.
